The big brother Ash never had
Jace and Ash are cousins, but they have always felt more like brother and sister. With her dad gone and her mom working much of the time, Ash saw Jace as the big brother she could count on. He looked out for her and saw her as the little sister he never had.
He liked N30N from the start. N30N cared about Ash without expecting anything from her, and Jace recognized him as one of the positive influences in her life. That helped the two become close friends, despite the age gap.
Ohio to Denver
Jace graduated before Ash and N30N and moved from Ohio to Denver to pursue motocross. Racing became his career, and he built a name for himself as a popular professional racer.
He has done well financially, but he does not make a show of it. Most of his money goes back into his bikes and racing gear. He still drives an old, beat-up pickup truck.
The day Cross showed up
A sponsorship deal had supplied most of Jace’s crew, but he needed one more person outside the corporate setup. He put an ad online for a pit crew assistant.
Someone calling themselves “Cross” replied. Their emails and texts sounded like they knew their way around a bike, so Jace invited them to the track during practice.
Cross turned out to be Sienna Cross. She explained that people had passed her over for work after seeing her first name. Jace was more interested in what she could do.
“I don’t care if you’re a man, woman or chimpanzee, if you can keep my bike running and fix it when it breaks, you’re hired.”
He watched her work all day. She worked hard, knew her stuff, and had learned it from her dad. By the end of the day, he offered her the job. Their relationship came later.
Finding N30N again
After Ash heard that N30N’s coming out had gone badly and that he had left home, Jace spotted him in a friend’s photograph from Technocolor in Toronto. N30N was performing in the background and had been tagged in the post.
Jace reached out. They reconnected, but N30N sounded off during their phone conversations. Jace and Sienna decided to visit. Ash secretly joined them, bringing her guitar and the things that mattered to her.
When Jace and Sienna returned to Denver, Ash stayed with N30N.
Life off the track
Jace and Sienna share a modest three-bedroom house in Denver. Ash lived there too, before moving to Toronto.
They love being together and work well as a team, while both still value time to themselves. Jace is competitive and focused on the track, calm under pressure, and fiercely loyal to the people he loves.
About that cap…
Jace almost always wears his backwards cap. N30N once asked why he kept it on all the time.
“I like it. It’s me, my look, my brand.”
“Do you keep it on for everything?”
“Everything?”
“EVERYTHING!?”
It is still a running joke between Jace, N30N, and Sienna.
