Growing Up

Ash's childhood was lonely. Her father had left, and her mother worked much of the time. N30N became someone she could count on.

He paid attention to her without expecting anything in return. He was genuine with her, looked out for her, and became someone she could confide in. Their friendship grew from that trust.

At sixteen, Ash told him she was bisexual. He told her he was too. They became closer, but neither admitted that their feelings had grown beyond friendship.

After graduation, Ash moved from Ohio to Denver with Jace and Sienna. She thought N30N would join them, but family obligations kept him behind. Eventually, they lost contact.

The reunion

Finding Him Again

An anonymous text brought Ash news that N30N's coming out had gone badly. He had left home, and no one had heard from him since.

Then Jace spotted him in an unexpected place: the background of a friend's photograph from Technocolor in Toronto. N30N was performing at the club, and he was tagged in the post.

Jace sent him a message. They reconnected, but during their phone conversations, Jace noticed that something sounded off. He and Sienna decided to visit.

Publicly, N30N looked like he was having the time of his life. He had work that suited him and an audience that loved watching him. Privately, he missed his family, his friends, and especially Ash.

She missed him too.

After talking with Jace and Sienna, Ash joined the trip without telling N30N. She brought her guitar, some clothes, and the things that mattered to her.

When N30N saw her, he told her how he felt. This time, Ash did too.

When Jace and Sienna went home, Ash stayed.

Her creative life

Music & Art

Ash brought her guitar with her when she went to find N30N. Music gives her a way to say things that aren't always easy to say in conversation.

N30N helps her record, but the music is hers: acoustic guitar, emo and pop-punk influences, and a voice that can be quiet, tired, sharp, or painfully honest.

The Wind tells her side of the time before their reunion, when she was lonely and ready for a change, but still unsure whether the person she wanted would want her back.

Painting is another part of her creative life. Alongside her songs, her artwork will have its own place here.

You Knew Me Then

Life Now

Ash stayed when Jace and Sienna returned to Denver. She and N30N finally know how they feel about each other, while both continue making work of their own.
