OFF//SCRIPT — Day Seven: One More Week

From:

October 19–20, 2026 · Halloween aftermath and Day Seven · Commentary by [DEV]

The Halloween party ended with a new person in the house and a fairly obvious problem: the only spare bed was in Eva’s room.

Wes had arrived at 10:42 p.m. with a bike, a duffel bag, and absolutely no idea who would answer the door. Eva hadn’t expected him either. By the end of the party, Dustin had done the room math out loud. Everyone then agreed that this was a conversation best saved for daylight.

Wes got the couch. The tiara stayed on the sideboard beside the skull. Priorities.

A costume tiara and decorative skull left on the sideboard after the Halloween party.

Apparently, all I had to do was announce a visit

At 1:52 a.m., I sent everyone a message saying I’d be there in person at 11:30.

By midmorning, the house had apparently entered emergency inspection mode. RJ and Dustin took the kitchen. Ash and Mori handled the living room. Taka vacuumed. Randi worked on the dining room, Julian and Finn went upstairs, and Wes got the entryway sideboard.

N30N changed his shirt twice. He denies this.

I’d like to point out that I wasn’t coming over to check for dust, but I do appreciate the effort, lol.

One more week

I stopped by because I wanted to tell everyone directly that OFF//SCRIPT would be wrapping up earlier than originally planned.

The whole point was to see what happened when these people shared a house. A week in, they’d already given me plenty: creative disagreements, friendships, comfortable routines, and people finding reasons to spend more time together. With Wes joining the group, I wanted to give them another week together, then they could head home if they were ready.

I also wanted to make something clear. Leaving the house doesn’t mean everyone has to disappear from each other’s lives. Keep the group chat. Make plans. Visit. The house was how they met; staying in touch is up to them.

I thanked everyone, welcomed Wes properly, and got to actually talk with some of the group before heading out.

RJ moved straight into exchanging numbers. Taka and Mori started making plans for another shoot. Finn observed that London wasn’t far, then made sure everyone knew he’d said it.

It was a lot to take in. People handled it in their own ways.

One more week together.

Julian lost a dish towel

Later, Julian tried to corner Eva in the kitchen.

She stopped him before he could get going: "Whatever sentence starts with six days and ends with a name, I don’t want it."

Julian claimed he was going to suggest a day trip. Eva pointed out that he was going to say Wes. Julian’s defense was that the sentences were related.

She threw a dish towel at him.

He looked entirely too pleased with himself for someone whose conversation had achieved absolutely nothing.

Eva walks away as Julian catches a dish towel during their kitchen exchange.

Back to Atwater

Taka, Mori, and Randi headed back to Atwater Market that afternoon. Wes asked to come along and was promptly given a bag to carry. He seemed delighted by the promotion.

Mori went back with Carlos’s photography note in mind: pick one person and let everything else become the surroundings.

Their subject was a honey vendor, his hands surrounded by jars of amber honey while the market moved around him. This time, the picture had somewhere to land.

Pick a person. Let the rest be weather.

Back at the house, Carlos studied the contact sheet and said, "That’s it. That’s the whole note."

Mori’s reaction was quiet, but they were clearly pleased.

Carlos reviews Mori's honey-vendor contact sheet at the kitchen counter.
“That’s it. That’s the whole note.”

Wes also got a tour of the grounds from RJ and Dustin, including a discussion of cycling in London traffic. RJ asked how he managed it. "Mostly survive," was apparently a sufficient answer.

Tragic but fixable

Dinner was chicken and market vegetables, put together by whoever was nearby.

RJ assigned Wes the onions and assessed his knife skills as "tragic but fixable." He accepted this with the enthusiasm of a man receiving an award.

The contact sheet made its way around the table. Finn announced that he’d be showing something later in the week to "interested parties," which turned out to be everyone. He declined to explain further.

Julian managed not to interrogate him. You could see the effort.

RJ gives Wes advice as he chops onions for dinner.
“Tragic but fixable.”

The fire pit gained another regular

It was cold enough for blankets, but the fire pit still filled up after dinner.

Wes got the usual introduction: Eva’s tea, Carlos’s guitar, and people settling in without needing an occasion. When Carlos played something slow, Eva sang along. Wes listened very closely.

Later, he told a delivery story involving a birthday cake, rain, a hill, and a handstand. Eva laughed before hiding behind her mug. Randi was nearby, observing all of this with the patience you would expect from Randi.

Make of that what you will, lol.

Carlos plays guitar while Wes tells a story, Eva laughs behind her mug, and Randi watches at the fire pit.

Eventually, quiet

Wes fell asleep on the couch while talking to Taka about bike gears. The room conversation remained impressively unheld.

Ash played her guitar softly in the kitchen as the house settled down. Upstairs, Eva spent a little time at her bedroom window, looking out toward the last glow of the fire pit.

Ash quietly plays acoustic guitar in the kitchen late at night.
Last one playing.
Eva looks out of her upstairs bedroom window toward the last firelight.
Still awake.

The tiara was still downstairs. Wes was still on the couch. There was still plenty to talk about.

One more week.
